How to log in to your WordPress dashboard

Your WordPress dashboard is where you manage your site’s content, design, and settings. This article will show you how to log in and what to do if you forget your password.

Prerequisites

  • You’ll need your WordPress username or email address and password.

Make sure you know your website’s login URL, which usually looks like:

    • yoursite.com/wp-admin or
    • yoursite.com/wp-login.php

Log in to your WordPress dashboard

  1. Go to your WordPress login page.
  2. Enter your username or email in the first field.
  3. Enter your password in the second field.
  4. Click the Log In button.
  5. After logging in successfully, you’ll be taken to the WordPress dashboard.

Recover your password

If you can’t log in because you forgot your password:

  1. On the login screen, click Lost your password?
  2. Enter your username or email address and click Get New Password.
  3. Check your email for a password reset link. Click the link to open the reset page.
  4. Enter your new password twice and click Reset Password.
  5. Return to the login page and sign in with your new password.

💡 Tip: If you don’t see the reset email, check your spam folder.

Troubleshooting

  • Q: I don’t remember my username or email.

A: Contact your site administrator or hosting provider—they can look it up for you.

  • Q: I didn’t receive the password reset email.

A: Make sure your WordPress site can send emails. If not, you may need to reset the password directly through your hosting control panel or database.
