Why can’t I see my changes on the frontend?
If you’ve updated a page in WordPress but don’t see the changes on the live site, the issue is usually caching. This article shows you how to use your browser’s Inspect tool, perform a hard refresh, and clear WordPress cache (including the Breeze plugin).
Prerequisites
- Access to your WordPress dashboard
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari recommended)
Step 1: Use Inspect to check your changes
- Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect.
- Press
Ctrl+F(Windows) orCmd+F(Mac) to open the search box. - Search for text or code you recently updated.
- If your update appears in the code but not visually → the cache needs clearing.
- If your update doesn’t appear in the code → the page may not have been saved correctly.
Step 2: Hard refresh the page
Browsers often serve cached versions of a site. To force a reload:
- Windows: Hold Ctrl and click the refresh button, or press Ctrl + Shift + R.
- Mac: Hold Cmd and click the refresh button, or press Cmd + Shift + R.
Step 3: Clear browser cache via refresh button
In Chrome and some other browsers:
- Right-click choose inspect and then hold the refresh button in the browser toolbar.
- Select Empty Cache and Hard Reload.
Step 4: Clear WordPress cache
If your site uses caching, clear it inside WordPress:
- For clients hosting with us (Breeze plugin)
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- In the top admin bar, click Breeze.
- Select Purge All Cache.
For other caching plugins (e.g., WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache)
Look for a Clear Cache or Purge Cache option in the admin bar or plugin settings.
Step 5: Clear CDN cache (if applicable)
If your site uses a CDN (like Cloudflare), log in to the CDN dashboard and purge the cache there as well.
Troubleshooting
I still don’t see changes after clearing all caches.
Try checking the site in an incognito/private window or on another device.
My changes don’t appear in Inspect.
Re-check that you clicked Update in WordPress before leaving the editor.
Site looks broken after clearing cache.
This is temporary. Refresh again after a few minutes — the cache will rebuild.
