What page builder does my site use (Elementor, WPBakery, etc.)? And how to edit pages with it

Your WordPress site may be built with a page builder like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg. Knowing which one you have helps you understand how to edit pages correctly. New builds created by our team use custom Gutenberg blocks and PHP templates instead of third-party page builders.

Prerequisites

You’ll need access to your WordPress dashboard with an account that has permission to edit pages.

Steps to check your page builder

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard

Enter your admin username and password.

  2. Open the Pages section

From the left-hand menu, go to Pages > All Pages.

  3. Edit a page

Hover over a page title and click Edit.

    Check the editing interface

    • Elementor → You’ll see a button saying Edit with Elementor.
    • WPBakery → You’ll see options for Backend Editor or Frontend Editor.
    • Gutenberg (default) → You’ll see block-based editing with a + button to add new blocks.
    • Custom Gutenberg/PHP build (new sites) → Pages may have pre-built sections with limited editing options, usually via block settings or custom fields.

How to edit pages with your builder

  • Elementor

Click Edit with Elementor, then drag and drop widgets from the left panel into the page.

  • WPBakery

Choose Backend Editor or Frontend Editor, then add rows and elements from the editor toolbar.

  • Gutenberg

Click the + icon to insert blocks like text, images, or buttons. Arrange blocks by dragging them up or down.

  • Custom Gutenberg/PHP builds

You’ll typically edit text, images, and content directly inside predefined blocks. Layout and styling are controlled by templates, so you won’t have drag-and-drop flexibility.

Troubleshooting

  • I don’t see an edit button for Elementor or WPBakery.

Your site is likely using Gutenberg or a custom build.

  • Why can’t I change layouts on a custom build?

Custom Gutenberg/PHP sites are designed for stability and performance. Layouts are fixed, but content is fully editable.
