How do I schedule posts to publish later?
WordPress lets you schedule posts in advance so they automatically publish at the date and time you choose. This article will show you how to set a schedule for your posts.
Prerequisites
- You must have permission to create and publish posts (Author role or higher).
- Make sure your site’s timezone is set correctly in Settings > General.
Schedule a post
- From your dashboard, go to Posts > Add New.
- Write your post as usual (add a title, content, categories, and tags).
- In the post settings sidebar, look for the Publish section.
- Click on the date and time next to Publish immediately.
- Select the future date and time you want the post to go live.
- Click Schedule instead of Publish.
Your post will now publish automatically at the chosen time.
Manage scheduled posts
- Go to Posts > All Posts.
- Look for posts with the status Scheduled.
- Hover over the post title and select Edit to change the content or scheduled time.
Troubleshooting
Q: My post didn’t publish at the scheduled time.
A: Check your site’s timezone under Settings > General. WordPress uses this setting to determine publish times.
Q: Can I schedule pages or custom post types?
A: Yes. The scheduling option works the same way for any content type that supports publishing.
